*This coverage only applies to emergency medical expenses that first arise during your trip. You’ll have a $50 deductible if your primary residence is in Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Vermont, or Washington. Residents of New Hampshire are eligible for up to $50,000 emergency medical and dental coverage with the Ultimate plan.
†This coverage limit applies to the baggage & personal effects benefit, which provides coverage for lost, stolen, or damaged baggage. There are separate limits for the baggage delay benefit.
^This coverage only applies to one travel companion aged 17 years old or younger per each insured adult traveler. Each insured adult traveler on the Ultimate plan must be aged 18 years or older for the child to be eligible. The child’s individual trip cost must be equal to or lower than the insured adult’s individual trip cost for coverage to apply. Coverage applies to the base plan benefits only. If upgrades are selected and included in the policy, each traveler will be charged the applicable premium for the upgrade.

Want more information on our coverage? We’re here to help.
We know that every trip you take is unique, which is why we give you coverage options.
The travel protection plan that’s best for you depends on your travel style. Your trip details — like the destination, trip length, and planned activities — will help you choose the Travelex travel insurance plan that’s right for you.
Our comprehensive travel insurance plans are Essential, Advantage, and Ultimate. Here's a quick overview of each one:
To learn more about our plans, visit our travel insurance plans page.
Your trip cost is the total of all prepaid, nonrefundable expenses, such as train, cruise, and flight tickets, hotel fees, and tour payments.
Tip: Make sure you keep the receipts from all your travel purchases to help you calculate your trip cost and submit if you file a claim.
Traveling with others? Calculate each travel companion’s trip costs separately, based on your receipts.
If you have more questions, check out our article on how to calculate your trip cost.
If you have a medical condition, it might give you trouble during your trip, just like it can at home.
Here’s the good news: You can get coverage for pre-existing medical conditions on a Travelex policy if you purchase our Ultimate plan within 21 days of your first insured trip payment. You also need to insure all your prepaid nonrefundable trip expenses within 21 days of buying our Ultimate plan.
This early purchase benefit is called the “waiver of the pre-existing condition exclusion”, and more information is available in policy documents and on our website.
Please note: This coverage isn’t available on our Advantage, Essential, Travel Med Go, Flight Insure, or Flight Insure Plus plans.
If you have a Travelex travel insurance policy and need to cancel your trip, we may be able to reimburse you for your insured trip costs.
You can cancel your trip before you leave as long as your reason for cancellation is eligible for coverage under your policy.
Here are some examples of cancellation reasons that could be eligible for coverage:
For more examples, please read our trip cancellation benefit page.
Keep in mind that we need to know about your trip cancellation within 72 hours of when you cancel the trip.
Want to be able to cancel your trip for any reason? Learn more about our cancel for any reason upgrade, which can be added to our Ultimate plan.
The level of coverage you get can depend on when you buy your travel insurance policy. And, here at Travelex, the earlier you buy it, the better your coverage can be.
Our recommendation? Buy a travel insurance policy as soon as you book any element of your trip (like a flight ticket or a hotel reservation). Though you may want to wait to purchase a policy, there are extra benefits if you choose to purchase soon after your first trip payment.
If you choose our Essential, Advantage, or Ultimate plans, we offer a 21-day free look period in case you change your mind about your policy and want a refund. This means that if within 21 days of purchase you’re not satisfied with your plan and haven’t yet departed or filed a claim, we’ll refund your Travelex travel insurance plan cost.
Good to know: You can purchase our Essential, Advantage, and Ultimate plans up to 11:59 p.m. on the day before your departure, regardless of the first trip payment date.
Travel insurance can help protect you financially from unexpected costs during your trip. From emergency medical expenses to canceled flights, surprise expenses can quickly add up, often amounting to far more than the cost of a travel insurance policy. Your U.S. health insurance likely won’t cover you in other countries either, and even if you have credit card travel insurance, the coverage may be limited.
With a Travelex travel insurance policy, we can reimburse for unforeseen eligible expenses and more. Our 24/7 travel assistance team is here for you when you need us most, from emergencies to less urgent travel concerns.
