travel insurance for seniors?

Dive into the details of our senior coverage and how we can help care for you.

Yes. First, choose our Ultimate plan — it's our only plan offering travel insurance for seniors with pre-existing conditions.

Next, if you meet a few simple requirements, we'll waive the pre-existing condition exclusion for these benefits (if they're included in your policy):

  • Emergency medical expense
  • Emergency dental expense
  • Emergency evacuation and repatriation
  • Pre-departure trip cancellation
  • Post-departure trip interruption
  • Travel delay

Here's what you need to do for coverage to apply:

  1. Buy the Ultimate plan within 21 days of your first trip payment.
  2. Insure your full prepaid, nonrefundable trip cost.
  3. Be medically fit to travel when you buy the plan.

If you add new travel plans later (like extra activities or arrangements not booked through your travel agent), make sure they're insured within 21 days of payment for those additions.

In most cases, Medicare or any U.S. health insurance policies don't extend coverage outside the U.S. That means if you're planning an international trip, you could be on your own for medical expenses — unless you have travel insurance.

Our emergency medical, dental, and evacuation benefits can help fill that gap in protection if something unexpected happens while you're away. Plus, our 24/7 assistance provider can help coordinate your medical care while you're traveling. So, before you pack your bags, it's worth looking into travel medical insurance for seniors that fits your needs — because no one wants to deal with surprise medical bills on vacation!

Travel medical insurance for seniors can help with a variety of unexpected situations while you're exploring the world. Depending on your plan, it may include:

  • Emergency medical expenses: Offers coverage for costs of unexpected illnesses or injuries during your trip.
  • Emergency dental care: Helps with sudden dental issues while you're away.
  • Medical evacuation and repatriation: Provides transportation to the nearest suitable medical facility or back home if needed.
  • Prescription medication replacement: Assists if you lose or run out of your medications while traveling.
  • 24/7 assistance services: Offers support for finding doctors, hospitals, or even translating medical terms.

It's like having a safety net for your health — and finances — while you're out making memories!

We're not just here for you; we're here for your stuff, too. Our baggage and personal effects benefit helps to protect your lost, stolen, damaged, or delayed belongings, so you barely miss a beat on vacation. However, it's important to know we don't offer coverage for medical devices like hearing aids, dentures, prosthetic devices, or eyeglasses.

Losing or forgetting your prescription medication can be stressful when you're away from home — but our 24/7 assistance provider is always available to help you replace it quickly. Check out the steps we recommend taking if you need more prescription medication on vacation and how we can help.

Whether it's your spouse or your long-time best friend, coverage for your traveling companion depends on how you complete your quote.

If you're the only traveler listed on your policy:

  • You'll have coverage for several benefits like trip cancellation and travel delay if your traveling companion gets sick or injured and it affects your trip.
  • We won't offer any coverage to your traveling companion, like emergency medical care or emergency evacuation.

If you'd like your traveling companion to have the same coverage under your policy, you can add them as an additional traveler when you get a quote if they live in your household. Otherwise, they'll need their own policy to help make sure they're protected.

Yes, with our cancel for any reason upgrade! Our Ultimate, Advantage, and Essential plans offer trip cancellation for specific reasons like illness or injury. But if you buy our Ultimate plan and add our cancel for any reason upgrade, you can have extra confidence and flexibility before you go.

With the upgrade, we can reimburse up to 75% of your prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs (up to $7,500), as long as you meet a few requirements:

  • Buy the upgrade with our Ultimate plan within 21 days of your first trip payment and at least 31 days before your trip starts.
  • Insure the full cost of your prepaid, nonrefundable trip expenses, and if you add anything later, insure those within 14 days of booking.
  • Keep your trip cost under $10,000 per person.

Let your travel providers (like your airline or cruise line) and our claims team know about your cancellation at least two days before your scheduled departure.
