our business travel insurance?
Let's debrief you on our coverage and support before you depart.
Yes! All our plans can apply to business trips — but our Ultimate plan is tailored to work travel. It's our only plan offering our cancel for any business reason upgrade, which lets you cancel your trip for work-related reasons like being called back to the office or a last-minute merger.
Plus, it packs our highest limits for benefits like trip cancellation, travel delay, and emergency medical care, so you can focus on sealing the deal, not sweating the details. You'll have perks like coverage for lost or delayed baggage (because no one wants to show up to a meeting in yesterday's clothes) and optional upgrades for rental car damage or even pet care if your furry friend is tagging along.
No matter what kind of trip you're taking, our coverage can save your wallet if work gets in the way of your travel plans. Your job may not provide corporate travel insurance — or offer enough coverage — so it's important to check before you go. Without important benefits, you'll be on your own when it comes to paying for cancellations, delays, emergency medical care, and more.
Here are a few scenarios where our business coverage can come in handy:
Need your assistant to attend an international conference or want to send your office manager to an out-of-state workshop? As a small business owner, getting travel insurance for your employees is a smart way to help protect both your workers and your business on their trip.
Why? You never know what potential travel issues your employee could face, like medical emergencies, trip cancellations, or lost luggage — and these expenses could fall on your finances as the business owner. Investing in the best business travel insurance for your employee's trip can help to secure your wallet and shows that you care about your team's safety and success, helping them stay focused and productive. And don't forget to consider business travel insurance for yourself if you're the one going on the work trip!
Attending a client meeting to discuss project details or visiting a project site to oversee progress? You may be hoping the company you do freelance work for will provide corporate travel insurance on your next business trip. But as an independent contractor, there's a good chance the companies you work with don't have travel insurance plans in place for you.
So, what happens if you travel for work without coverage? You could be paying for potential changes of plans on your own — even if the company you work with requires you to travel. This means if you get sick while you're away, miss your connecting flight, or lose your luggage, the cost likely falls on your finances. Business travel insurance benefits can offer reimbursement for these costs and more — so you can feel a bit more at ease on your work trip and focus on your tasks ahead.
If you're taking time off but need to complete a few work tasks while you're away, you're likely traveling with your business laptop and smartphone. So, what happens if your business belongings get lost, stolen, or damaged?
Not only will you be unable to work on vacation, but you may also be left paying for the cost of your expensive electronic device — even if it's a company device. International business travel insurance with electronic device protection can reimburse you if your work belongings are compromised, so you can get back to work — and enjoying your vacation — sooner.
Whether a deadline is moved up or your boss schedules a last-minute mandatory meeting, there's a chance you may need to skip your vacation to stay at the office.
If you can't make your trip, you could lose prepaid nonrefundable payments you've already made — unless you have business travel insurance that offers coverage for trip cancellation for work reasons. With the right coverage for your trip, you can cancel for eligible business reasons and could receive reimbursement for your prepaid nonrefundable trip expenses.
Our base plans with the trip cancellation benefit included (Essential, Advantage, and Ultimate) can provide coverage if you need to cancel for one of these work reasons:
How our cancel for business reasons upgrade can help all kinds of workers
Want to be able to cancel your trip for other work reasons? If you purchase our Ultimate plan, you can add our optional cancel for business reasons upgrade to your policy for more flexible cancellation.
If you purchase this upgrade within 21 days of your initial trip payment, we can reimburse you up to 100% of your insured trip cost ($10,000 maximum) for eligible cancellation reasons.
Eligible reasons for our cancel for business reasons upgrade are:
Yes, we offer laptop travel insurance and coverage for your electronic and professional equipment with our baggage upgrade. It's available on our Essential, Advantage, Ultimate, and Travel Med Go plans.
With this upgrade, we can reimburse you up to the eligible amount if your laptop, cell phone, or other professional equipment is lost, stolen, or damaged while traveling with you — as long as you did your best to protect, save, and recover your item at all times. The most we can pay for cameras, camera equipment, and digital or electronic equipment and media is $1,500, and we may instead pay to repair or replace it.
We'll determine the value of the item based on its actual cash value or replacement cost (whichever is less). So, it's important to gather all your receipts before traveling in case you need proof of the item's value. If you lose more than one item — like if someone stole your suitcase that had your work laptop and smartphone inside — we'll consider it to be one total combined loss, rather than pay the benefit for each item.
Here's what to do to be eligible for our laptop travel insurance coverage:
We'll reimburse you for these eligible expenses, but we won't pay for further damage if you fail to protect your laptop or other work item. Remember the upgrade requirements before you depart so your laptop travel insurance coverage can apply. With extra backup for your belongings, you can enjoy your business trip with fewer tech-related worries.
Travel insurance may count as a business expense if you're buying it for a work trip. Think of it as a smart investment in keeping your plans on track — because missed flights and unexpected hiccups don't look good on an expense report!
Just like booking your flight or hotel, travel insurance can be written off as part of your business travel costs if you're traveling for work purposes. It's like giving your business trip a safety net while keeping your accountant happy. So, add it to the budget, and focus on nailing that big meeting or closing the deal.
If something goes wrong, our travel assistance provider can help make it right anytime, anywhere. They're on call 24/7 to help with a variety of business trip challenges, from finding a local doctor to emergency funds transfer. Plus, they're easy to reach with a tap in our Travel On app.
Our Travel On app can help you on your next work trip by helping you stay informed of any nearby risks with real-time safety alerts, offering access to key destination facts and risk ratings, and ensuring your policy details are easy to find.
You can! Our Ultimate plan offers a waiver for our pre-existing condition exclusion, so your chronic illnesses would be included in your medical benefits. All you have to do is meet a few straightforward requirements:
With that in place, you can get back to business (or leisure) as usual, with a little extra confidence!
