Want to know more about
our travel insurance for the Philippines?

Travel comes with questions. These FAQs break down how coverage works in the Philippines.

Travel insurance from the USA to the Philippines isn't a requirement, but it's a smart investment. It means you're never on your own in Southeast Asia, with our reliable coverage, helpful Travel On app, and 24/7 travel assistance provider on your side. And travel insurance can be helpful considering the high amounts that unexpected costs can add up to, from emergency medical evacuations to canceled trips.

An organized tour can be a great way to explore a destination with less hassle and meet likeminded travelers along the way, but it's still important to have travel insurance from the USA to the Philippines.

Even if your trip is meticulously planned, you might face unexpected issues like a canceled flight before you see the Mayon Volcano or a sprained wrist while heading to Pagsanjan Falls. It's not only important to consider travel insurance for the Philippines for your financial safety, but also many tour operators require proof of travel insurance before you depart.

You can find out quickly and easily — just click the "Get quote" button below to choose your policy options and see your travel insurance policy's cost.

If you're looking for scuba travel insurance or coverage for other sports excluded from our base plans, remember to add our adventure activities upgrade to your Ultimate, Advantage, Essential, or Travel Med Go plan.

Before you leave for the Philippines, it's a good idea to check the U.S. Department of State's travel advisories website.

You may also see events that can affect your travel insurance coverage on our travel alerts page. Plus, if you have a Travelex policy, you can access instant security notifications via our Travel On app.

Yes, we can provide coverage for your cruise! Cruises in the Philippines are growing in popularity because they're a great way to explore some of the 7,600+ islands that make up the archipelago.

If something unplanned happens like your cruise is canceled, you hurt yourself on the ship, or your bags are stolen, our cruise travel insurance for the Philippines can help you get back money spent on prepaid nonrefundable travel expenses, emergency medical expenses, emergency medical evacuation, lost personal items, and more.

Yes, we can provide coverage for car rentals with our optional rental car damage upgrade. It can give you extra financial support if you have an accident that damages the car, like collision, vandalism, theft, or even weather-related damage like fires and floods.

Important: We can provide coverage for damage to rental cars, but we don't offer coverage for motorcycles and mopeds. This means if you're driving — or even just riding — on a motorcycle or moped (this includes taxis), you won't have any coverage if something goes wrong.

Many of our plans do provide coverage for certain adventure activities, including snorkel, shark dive, surf, and kayak travel insurance.

Think you'll want to scuba dive deeper than 75 feet or skydive? Our adventure activities upgrade provides coverage for activities our base plans don't insure. Learn more at our adventure travel insurance page.

You may be excited about your trip to the Philippines, so it can be disappointing to not only have to cancel, but also potentially lose your entire trip investment. At Travelex, our Ultimate, Advantage, and Essential plans offer trip cancellation coverage for eligible reasons.

But if you want to be able to cancel no matter what happens, you can choose our Ultimate plan and add our cancel for any reason upgrade*. It allows you to call off your trip for any reason at all, provided you do so at least two days before you're due to depart. This means you may not lose all your trip investment, as we can reimburse you 75% of the cost of your insured trip, up to a maximum of $7,500.

If you want to make a claim with our cancel for any reason upgrade, the following must apply:

  • You buy the upgrade with our Ultimate plan within 21 days of your first trip cost and 31 days or more before your departure date.
  • You insure all your nonrefundable trip costs.
  • Your full trip cost equals or is less than $10,000.
  • You insure any additional arrangements within 14 days of booking them.

*Cancel for any fortuitous reason for NY residents.

Yes, we can provide coverage for your whole trip, unless you're visiting one of our blocked destinations.

When you get a Travelex quote, enter your destination as the country where you're spending the most time. For example, if you're spending four days in the Philippines and two days in Indonesia, you should select the Philippines as your destination when getting the quote.

You can — but only if you're eligible for our pre-existing condition exclusion waiver and purchase the Ultimate plan. To qualify, you'll need to:

  • Buy the Ultimate plan within 21 days of your first trip payment.
  • Insure 100% of your prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs.
  • Be medically able to travel at the time of purchase.

With this waiver, certain pre-existing medical conditions may be eligible for coverage on your trip. This can be especially valuable when choosing travel insurance from the USA to the Philippines, where medical needs could arise during long-haul travel or while exploring more remote areas.

The best time to buy travel insurance for the Philippines is right after you book your trip. Purchasing early means you'll have access to valuable benefits like trip cancellation coverage, which can reimburse prepaid, nonrefundable costs if an eligible event forces you to cancel.

Buying early is also important if you want certain protections — like the pre-existing medical condition exclusion waiver — which requires you to purchase a plan within 21 days of your first trip payment.

You can still buy coverage up until the day you leave with our Travel Med Go plan (as long as you haven't departed home), but if you wait, you may miss out on those early-purchase benefits.
