our travel insurance for Florida?
Learn how our coverage helps you travel with care and confidence.
Florida weather is famously unpredictable, but the good news is you can stay informed and prepared.
It's worth considering, because your health insurance might not cover all potential vacation hiccups.
While your health plan likely works in the U.S., it probably won't include benefits like trip interruption or emergency evacuation fees. If you take a tumble biking through Key West or get sun poisoning on a yacht tour in Miami, our travel insurance can swoop in to help reimburse eligible medical costs.
It's a smart move! Guided tours can be awesome, but they don't always have you covered when things go haywire.
For instance, if you're on a group tour of the Everglades and your luggage is lost en route to Miami, you're often left to sort it out on your own. Travel insurance offers a security net with benefits like baggage protection and travel delay coverage, so we can help you have financial backup if your plans go south.
If you're staying within the U.S., you can venture into different states without losing coverage. If you'll be leaving Florida to visit a country outside of the U.S., your coverage can continue protecting you unless you visit OFAC-sanctioned countries or our blocked destinations.
Either way, when you get a travel insurance quote, enter your destination as the country where you'll spend the most time. For example, if you'll be in Florida for two weeks and Mexico for three days, select "USA" as your destination.
You can. If you're planning to snorkel in Key Largo, zipline near Orlando, or spend the day at a major theme park, our base plans include coverage for many lower-risk activities and unexpected injuries — including those that might happen on rides or during excursions.
Thinking about taking the excitement up a notch? Add our adventure activities upgrade to our Ultimate, Advantage, Essential, or Travel Med Go plan for heart-pounding excursions like parasailing or scuba diving with Florida's marine life.
Plans don't always go as expected, which is why it's smart to pack trip cancellation coverage on vacation. Our Ultimate, Advantage, and Essential plans include trip cancellation benefits that can reimburse you for eligible expenses for specific reasons listed in your policy, such as unexpected illness or natural disasters.
Looking for more flexibility? Our cancel for any reason* upgrade can help travelers feel more confident about booking their vacations. Exclusive to our Ultimate plan, this upgrade lets you cancel your trip for any reason up to two days before your trip starts and recover up to 75% of your prepaid trip costs.
Important details to keep in mind: This upgrade needs to be added to the Ultimate plan within 21 days of your initial trip payment and no less than 31 days before your departure date. You'll also need to ensure your policy accounts for the full amount of your prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs, with a trip cost cap of $10,000 per person.
*Cancel for any fortuitous reason for NY residents.
It can — if you're eligible for our pre-existing condition exclusion waiver.
This waiver is available on our Ultimate plan and can provide coverage for pre-existing medical conditions if:
The waiver applies to conditions that were treated or diagnosed within 90 days before buying your plan. It's a popular option for older travelers visiting Florida — especially those managing ongoing health needs.
It's a good idea to buy travel insurance soon after booking your trip.
Florida vacations often involve big upfront costs — from theme park tickets to beach rentals — and buying early can help protect those investments. It also means you're more likely to be eligible for coverage if something unexpected comes up, like a flight delay or a named hurricane.
While you can purchase coverage up to the day before departure with our Travel Med Go plan, buying early gives you access to more benefits.
You can. All our comprehensive plans — Ultimate, Advantage, Essential, and Travel Med Go — include coverage for cruises.
If you're going on an international cruise around the Caribbean but leaving from a port in Florida, we recommend adding "Caribbean" as your destination when getting a quote. Your policy will include coverage from when you leave home, including your time spent in Florida when boarding and disembarking your cruise.
They can be, as long as the weather event is unforeseen when you buy your policy.
If a hurricane or severe storm makes it unsafe or impossible to travel to, stay at, or enjoy your Florida destination, our Essential, Advantage, and Ultimate plans may provide coverage for trip cancellation, interruption, or delays — including situations like mandatory evacuations or damage to your accommodations.
Our Travel Med Go and Flight Insure Plus plans don't include trip cancellation benefits, but they do offer emergency medical and evacuation coverage if you're affected by a covered weather-related event during your trip.
To be eligible for most benefits, you'll need to purchase your plan before the storm is named. Once it becomes a known event, it's no longer considered unexpected — and wouldn't be eligible for coverage.
You can! Especially if you're driving long stretches of Florida's scenic highways, our rental car damage upgrade can help keep your wallet protected from the cost of unexpected mishaps.
We hope you won't experience fender benders while parking in bustling South Beach or vandalism of your Orlando rental car. But if you do, this upgrade can help reimburse eligible accidental damage costs, letting you focus on the road ahead instead of repair bills.
