Our Ultimate, Advantage, and Essential plans offer trip cancellation coverage, so you can receive reimbursement for eligible reasons listed in your policy. Just make sure you include your full nonrefundable trip cost when getting a quote and buying your policy to ensure you'll have enough coverage.
Want the flexibility of being able to cancel your trip for any reason? Our cancel for any reason upgrade* may be a great addition for you — it's available on our most comprehensive plan, Ultimate. With this upgrade included in your policy, you can call off your Hawaii vacation for any reason up to two days before you depart and receive up to 75% ($7,500 maximum) of your insured trip cost back.
Important: The cancel for any reason upgrade applies if you purchase the Ultimate plan with the upgrade within 21 days of making your first payment for the trip and 31 days or more before your departure date. Also, you must insure all your prepaid and nonrefundable expenses, but keep in mind that there's a limit — your trip's total cost can't be more than $10,000.

If a hurricane, earthquake, tsunami, or volcanic eruption disrupts your trip after you've purchased either our Ultimate, Advantage, or Essential plan, we can help with trip cancellations, interruptions, and delays. These three plans — along with Travel Med Go and Flight Insure Plus — include emergency medical and evacuation benefits, too.
Just remember: Coverage only kicks in for unforeseen events. So, the earlier you buy, the more protection you have.
Even when traveling within the U.S., it's important to stay updated with travel alerts that can affect your trip and Travelex coverage.
Here's how you can stay in the know on the go:
It depends on your travel needs and U.S. health insurance plan, which may not cover you in all 50 states.
If your medical insurance applies anywhere in the U.S., you may not need extra health insurance in Hawaii. However, travel insurance can offer benefits that your regular health insurance plan might not include, such as reimbursing the cost of emergency medical expenses, trip cancellation because of injury or sickness, travel delay caused by quarantine, and more.
It's a good idea to check with your insurance provider to understand your coverage before your trip — and don't just opt for cheap health insurance for Hawaii thinking it'll have everything you need. You may need more comprehensive coverage.
It's a good idea to get travel insurance even if you're traveling with an organized tour. While many tour groups provide some level of assistance, they may not offer coverage for unexpected events like flight cancellations, lost luggage, or medical emergencies.
Travel insurance can help protect you in these situations and more, so you're not left struggling with unexpected expenses. Even in a carefully planned group tour, unforeseen things can happen, and having travel insurance adds an extra layer of security to your Hawaiian adventure.
Yes! Our rental car damage upgrade can help with unexpected situations like vandalism or accidents while you're road-tripping the scenic Hana Highway or volcanic landscapes of the Big Island. You can add this upgrade to our Ultimate, Advantage, Essential, or Travel Med Go plan.
